There are many factors that contribute to the longevity of the people of Okinawa Japan, and it is believed that coral calcium is one of those factors. The average life expectancy of the people living in Okinawa is 105 years. The life expectancy of those living on the mainland of Japan is 77 years. The people of Okinawa live on islands which are made of coral reefs. These coral reefs consist mainly of calcium and provide rich mineral supplements to the water supply.

More than two and a half centuries ago the people of Okinawa made a very important discovery regarding the coral sand of their island. They began feeding the coral sand, which was produced from the reefs which had been weathered through the years, to their chickens and cows. This produced amazing results. The eggs and milk that were produced actually doubled in volume They also used the coral sand as fertilizer and their crops increased as much as three times.

The people began to add the coral sand to their diet, and eventually, according to local folklore history of Okinawa, all the doctors left the island because they were no longer needed.
